Residents have days left to apply for role deciding councillor allowances
[]

The Joint Independent Remuneration Panel (JIRP) is looking for new members, with applications closing on Monday, August 17.
Government regulations require all councillors’ allowances to be assessed by an independent panel, made up of four members of the public who are not councillors or staff.
Councillors receive an annual basic allowance.
In 2025/26 this was around £5,902.80 for Adur and £6,183.36 for Worthing.
They may also be entitled to special responsibility allowances, such as those chairing committees, and travel and carers allowances.
