A police officer responded amid reports of a cyclist riding southbound on the motorway near Junction 42, Carlisle Magistrates’ Court heard.
“He has observed a person wearing a red tracksuit riding a bike on the hard shoulder,” said prosecutor Suresh Basra.
The officer drove past the cyclist — Cooter — who was reported to have begun riding in the opposite direction against the flow of traffic.
As the officer followed, Cooter, of Sandgate, Penrith, veered towards lane one on multiple occasions.
In court, Cooter admitted charges of dangerous cycling and failing to stop for an officer in uniform.
