Carmarthenshire County Council announced that collections will start at 5am instead of 6am on Thursday, August 13, including garden waste and hygiene/nappy waste. This temporary change is being introduced to protect frontline crews from working in high temperatures later in the day. Edward Thomas, Carmarthenshire County Council’s cabinet member for transport, waste and infrastructure services, said: "The welfare of our crews is our priority, particularly during periods of very hot weather. "By starting collections earlier, we can help reduce staff exposure to the hottest part of the day while continuing to provide essential services for residents." Residents are advised to put their bins out the night before or before 5am on the day of collection.
