But during the time the Prairieland defendants sat in Johnson County, waiting for federal charges to be filed, the country changed underneath them.
In June, nearly a year after the protest, Hill was sentenced.
Outside of D.C., he said, it’s uncommon for everyday civilians to encounter federal law enforcement — meaning that actions at protests are rarely liable for federal charges.
