Letter: Would you want Lake Mitchell water dumped in your backyard?

To the Editor:I have been living along the James River for the last 35 years. In these past 35 years I have seen this river drastically improve with the water quality and is a very clean river. Here lies the problem the city of Mitchell wants to drain Lake Mitchell into the James River with all the pollutants. According to the Mitchell Daily Republic on August 1, 2026, “The microcystin toxins are produced by blue-green algae. My question to the citizens of Mitchell would you want this water dumped in your backyard?
