Justin Bennett, 54, of no fixed abode but last linked to Spennymoor, appeared at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on August 7. Bennett pleaded guilty to driving with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the legal limit. The incident took place on February 3, when Bennett was behind the wheel of a black Skoda Superb on Albert Street, Shildon. A blood test showed Bennett had 6.9 micrograms per litre of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), above the specified limit. The court said Bennett’s guilty plea was taken into account when sentencing.
