COVENTRY gathered in the spirit of peace and remembrance on the 81st anniversary of the Hiroshima nuclear bombing. Dignitaries gathered at Coventry Cathedral last Thursday for the city’s Hiroshima Remembrance Day. The first bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6. The remembrance service began with the ringing of the peace bell by Honorary Alderman Joe Clifford. Sophie Bolt, the general secretary for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, also spoke at the remembrance service.
