Read our Privacy noticeAfter his sweeping executive order on mail-in voting was blocked nationwide, Donald Trump’s administration pressed the Supreme Court to allow the government to implement new rules that could significantly restrict voters’ access to ballots this fall.
In March, Trump issued an executive order that would require states to compile lists of eligible voters based on information from his own administration.
“The cheating on mail-in voting is legendary,” Trump said during a signing ceremony at the White House earlier this year.
Trump has already asked the nation’s high court for help after a federal appeals court upheld a separate decision that warned his executive order will likely disenfranchise “many eligible voters.”
Even a Trump appointee on that three-judge panel agreed that the president’s order could impose “concrete injury” to legal voting.
