Spotify is introducing new labels to identify AI-generated artists on the platform. From mid-September, an “AI Persona” badge will appear on artist profiles where Spotify determines the identity is created by AI rather than a real person. “True artist-fan connection can only be built on a foundation of trust and authenticity,” Spotify said. “So this year, we’ve made Artist Identity & Trust one of our very top priorities with the launch of Verified by Spotify, SongDNA, AI Credits, and Artist Profile Protection. DJ Mag reported last year that Spotify had removed 75 million AI-generated “spam” tracks from the platform, while recent moves from Deezer, TIDAL and Traxsource have seen platforms introduce new measures to identify or restrict AI-generated music.
