The US government has the "best available data," Energy Secretary Chris Wright posted Tuesday on X. "Many private businesses undercount the number of ships leaving the Strait of Hormuz due to ships moving covertly through the waterway." He said total Arabian Gulf energy exports, both via shipping and pipelines, are now averaging approximately 15 million barrels per day. "We have total control over the Hormuz Strait right now ... we own it," Trump told reporters on Tuesday evening. Trump officials are also arguing that the fate of the Strait of Hormuz will soon be of no concern to global markets.
