Seven Sectors Form South Korea's Technology RoadmapThe SEED strategy includes small modular reactors, fusion energy, next generation renewable energy, quantum technology, space and aviation, advanced biotechnology and critical minerals and materials supply chains. The 10 trillion won allocation should not be treated as the total cost of the seven-sector SEED strategy. South Korea is pursuing multiple lunar-related efforts, with private-sector participation forming an increasingly important part of its space strategy. For small modular reactors, South Korea plans to begin detailed design work with private companies from 2027, with the goal of commercializing an innovative light-water SMR by 2035. For South Korea, the immediate challenge is to translate the SEED roadmap into funded programs and working technologies.
