Monica Ephraim is set to make history in Augusta, Georgia, as the first Black woman to become a colonel in the Richmond County Marshal’s Office, WJBF reports.
The promotion marks another milestone in a career that has taken Ephraim through several law enforcement agencies across Georgia.
Before joining the Richmond County Marshal’s Office, Ephraim worked for the Albany Police Department.
She later served with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the Augusta Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, according to the outlet.
Ephraim was recently named the Richmond County Marshal’s Office Administration Deputy of the Year.
