Madlanga Commission hears R2.3 million deposited into Lt-Col Deena Govender's accounts

Image: Phill Magakoe/AFPSource: Getty ImagesKWAZULU-NATAL — The Madlanga Commission has received testimony that roughly R2.3 million in deposits was traced to bank accounts belonging to Cash-in-Transit task team leader Lieutenant-Colonel Deena Govender and his wife.
He told the commission that the financial transactions were connected to a reported R2.5 million contract placed on the life of a local tow-truck operator.
Govender linked to R2.5 million alleged hitCentral to the testimony was a recorded phone call from 25 January 2023.
"Bevan Loftus was informed that Clive Nica had offered Lieutenant Colonel Deena Govender R2.5 million to kill him.
John concluded his evidence before the commission following his detailed account of the financial transactions and the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder-for-hire arrangement.
