Six months have passed since an 18-year-old killed eight people in the community of Tumbler Ridge, B.C., and families of victims and the community are still grappling with the devastating loss. Van Rootselaar then travelled to Tumbler Ridge Secondary, shooting and killing five students and an educational assistant before killing herself. Cali Stanley, who helped start a community healing centre in Tumbler Ridge, is still grappling with the tragedy. Stanley is the director of operations at the Tumbler Ridge Community Healing Space (TCHRS). Public Safety Minister Nina Krieger said the RCMP’s report into the Tumbler Ridge shooting was in its “final stages.”
