IGN has gone live with 16 minutes of Final Fantasy Resonance gameplay, which looks at the team – comprised of Rain, Jake, Fina, and Lid – taking on Shiva in combat, giving us a look at its classic old-school turn-based battles in the process. Final Fantasy Resonance is a brand new entry in the long-running RPG series overseen by Lancarse, and is scheduled to ship for PS, PC, Nintenod Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S on October 22, 2026. The game recalls the franchise’s classic pixel-art roots and marries it with dynamic camera work and 3D models, throwing in all the staples you’d expect from the series such as airships, Moogles, and espers. Turn-based battles see you exploiting your adversary’s weak point to stagger them and unleash powerful attacks and secure extra turns for you team. In addition, Final Fantasy Resonance allows players to bolster their team with Visions, which are echoes of previous Final Fantasy characters such as Cloud and Squall, who will battle alongside you with unique skills.
