+ ↺ − 16 pxA major Russian oil refinery has completely halted crude processing after a Ukrainian drone strike damaged key equipment and sparked a fire in the latest attack on Russia’s energy infrastructure. Industry sources said that the strike damaged several crude oil processing units, forcing the facility to suspend refining operations. In 2024, the facility processed around 4.2 million metric tons of crude, producing approximately 1.8 million metric tons of diesel, 600,000 metric tons of gasoline, 500,000 metric tons of bitumen and 200,000 metric tons of fuel oil. The strike is part of an intensifying Ukrainian campaign targeting Russian oil facilities and other energy infrastructure far from the front lines. Another Russian refinery was also targeted in a drone attack on the night of August 11.
