Massachusetts’ new abortion bill that addresses access to late-term abortions was signed into law Monday.
Meanwhile, The 19th News, a reader-supported nonprofit news organization that focuses on gender issues, headlined its story, “Massachusetts expands abortion access to any point during pregnancy.”
The Boston Globe reported on the law, writing “‘Abortion is on the ballot’: Healey signs bill to widen abortion access amid reelection bid.”
That’s not to say, however, that any woman in Massachusetts can get a late-term abortion simply because she desires one — an important caveat.
Massachusetts isn’t aloneAnd despite the controversy surrounding the new law in Massachusetts, the state isn’t the first to allow late-term abortions with physician approval.
