Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley on Tuesday extended an olive branch to progressive Francesca Hong, whom he defeated unexpectedly in the Democratic primary for Wisconsin governor. Crowley managed to narrowly edge out Hong for the nomination, marking a stunning polling miss as most surveys had shown her with a nearly 20-point lead. After his triumph, Crowley spoke well of Hong. He ultimately urged Democrats to unite against Republicans, by saying “[t]he real opponent has always been Tom Tiffany." Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Wis., handily secured the Republican nomination and will face Crowley in November.
