MP quashes 'rumours' that 50 illegal migrants were brought by bus to hotel

His post added that his office had spoken to Serco, an organisation responsible for accommodating those seeking asylum, with the MP saying the organisation has said there are ‘no asylum seekers placed at the Cumberland Hotel, or any hotel’ in the area.
In his social media post this morning, Mr MacAlister said: "A coach load of 50 illegal migrants dropped off at the Cumberland Hotel in Workington in the middle of the night?
"My office have spoken to Serco today - they are responsible for all accommodation in our region for those seeking asylum - and they have NO asylum seekers placed at the Cumberland Hotel, or any hotel in our area."
The post was shared widely on social media but now appears to have been removed.
In his post, the MP also added: "This government has CLOSED 44 asylum hotels this year alone, saving taxpayers £224 million.
