Indonesia proposes 63 fish processors for export to TürkiyeRelated news: Indonesia makes first marinated catfish export to TaiwanRelated news: Indonesia expands fishery export access to ChinaMusi Banyuasin (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries has proposed 63 fish processing units (UPIs) to obtain approval numbers from Turkish authorities as part of efforts to expand market access for Indonesian fishery products in Türkiye .Acting Head of the KKP's Agency for Quality Control and Inspection of Marine and Fishery Products, Ishartini, said the process was being carried out through a joint pre-border inspection with a team from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye from August 10 to 15, 2026.
"The joint pre-border inspection of several fish processing companies is a prerequisite for the authorities to issue approval numbers to UPI operators seeking to export to Türkiye ," Ishartini said in an official statement received in Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra, on Wednesday.The inspection covered seven UPIs located in Jakarta, Banyuwangi, Sidoarjo, and Denpasar.
"This is very important for expanding market access and enhancing the competitiveness of our fishery products," she said.The ministry records 72 Indonesian UPIs as having access to the Turkish export market.
To date, Indonesia has exported 24 types of fishery commodities to Türkiye, including cephalopods, tuna, sardines, seaweed, and shrimp.
