The management of Katsina United has confirmed the death of Chinedu Ozor, who slumped during a pre-season friendly match on Tuesday. In a Wednesday statement issued by its media directorate, the club said the player slumped during a friendly match against Niger Tornadoes at Muhammad Dikko Stadium, Katsina. The club also debunked a viral social media report that the player temporarily regained consciousness in the morgue and was returned to hospital. The statement reads, “It is with deep sadness that we clarify the reports surrounding the passing of Katsina United player Chinedu Ozo, who reportedly collapsed during a friendly match against Niger Tornadoes at Muhammad Dikko Stadium, Katsina. Reports claiming that he later regained consciousness or ‘came back to life’ are false and should be disregarded.
