Former president Marcelo transported to hospital after being taken ill in Algarve

Marcelo's love of the beach, the sea and those moments for relaxation is well documentedFormer President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has been transported to hospital today in the Algarve, after starting to feel unwell in a restaurant.
According to Jornal de Notícias, Marcelo showed signs of feeling unwell while he was at Restaurante Recanto, in Monte Gordo, in the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António.
INEM medical emergency was summoned, and the 77-year-old was transported to Faro hospital.
SIC Notícias meantime has said the former head of state is “undergoing tests” and his clinical condition “does not point to a serious situation“.
Marcelo underwent a heart cathetarisation in 2019, at which point it was mooted that he had a stent inserted to help with any future issues.
