‘The End of Oak Street’ Review: David Robert Mitchell’s Spielberg-Light Dino Thriller is One Strange, Dusty Fossil [C-]

But his new J.J. Abrams-produced dinosaur thriller certainly feels like the film of someone trying to restore their image with the public and executives.
Set in 1982, the Platts, a typical American family, lead an innocuous life in their idyllic neighborhood of Flowervale.
The film opens with a neighborhood get-together of barbecue and sack race games, but the strains between the characters are quickly emphasized.
I love Poltergeist and Gremlins too, but trying to create those movies verbatim still just feels like a poor substitute for the real thing.
Grade: C-Warner Bros will release The End of Oak Street only in theaters on August 14.
