On August 7, 2026, Dorothy Ann Gjere entered into heaven and joined the love of her life, Harlan. In July 1951, Dorothy met Harlan Gjere, Sr. and they dated until September 22, 1955, when they were united in marriage at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Mabel. Dorothy and Harlan worked the Gjere family farm near Highlandville, Iowa, for 37 years. She once crocheted an altar cloth for St. Olaf church, which was sadly lost in a fire. Preceding Dorothy is her beloved husband Harlan Gjere, Sr., her parents Henry and Bernadine Stortz, brothers Joseph (Leona), Erwin (Virginia), Lawrence (Gayle); sister Mary Lucille Bahr; in-laws Jerome (Clarice) Gjere, Maynard (Sandra) Gjere; father and mother in-law Alvin and Hattie Gjere, granddaughter Nicole, and great-grandson Xavier.
