(Photo: Island Men)FORT FISHER, NC (WWAY) — The Island Men Backyard BBQ Cook-Off will return this fall for its fifth year, bringing barbecue competition, live music and family activities to the Fort Fisher area. Judging will follow North Carolina Barbecue Society rules, and competitors will vie for $1,500 in prize money and trophies. The Island Men is a nonprofit organization with more than 200 members. In previous years, the cook-off has drawn more than 1,000 attendees and featured local pitmasters competing for both judges’ awards and the People’s Choice title.
