Green’s Windmill, in Sneinton, was originally built in 1807 and today welcomes around 20,000 visitors every year as an educational centre.
It has now been confirmed that repairs will start on November 3, forcing the attraction's closure to the public.
In an update in its newsletter, Green's Windmill Trust said it hoped to be milling again by 2027 and had appointed Ackroyd Construction to lead the work.
"We hope to be able to provide some kind of display within the science centre showing the repairs within the mill.
