Bucky Whitehouse, local volunteer firefighter and Emergency Services Director of the Tooele County Emergency Services, recently met with the Transcript Bulletin to discuss the recent Bates Fire. It was at approximately 12 p.m. that the emergency services dispatch center had received reports of the fire near Nelson Peak. So, they have currently labeled the fire as human caused, but we are still actively investigating, trying to figure out what the source was.” So, during rainstorms, Whitehouse encourages residents to stay out of the area where the Bates Fire occurred. Whitehouse also emphasized the responsibility of reaching out to emergency services if they see incidents like flooding following the occurrence of a wildfire.
