Local government reorganisation is creating uncertainty over local plans and could hamper housing delivery, a district leader has warned. East Hampshire DC leader Richard Millard (Con) has written to housing secretary Angela Rayner, calling for clarity because promised government guidance on preparing local plans during reorganisation has still not been published. Cllr Millard said the government has created an “extraordinary muddle” over LGR and local plans. In a letter published today, Cllr Millard said councils undergoing LGR were being asked to spend “millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money” preparing local plans for authorities that would soon no longer exist.
