The great wind diversification: Why turbines aren’t enough
['Ed Reed']
Energy Voice
The world’s biggest players – Siemens Gamesa, Vestas and GE Vernova – are all diversifying in order to smooth out the bumps of turbine contract wins.
That Siemens Gamesa result is nothing to be sniffed at, but clearly it is the company’s legacy businesses that are doing the heavy lifting, for now at least.
Its wind turbine order book was up 67%.
It was also the US that led the pack of Vestas’ turbine deliveries in the quarter, followed by Germany.
Whether it is gas infrastructure – which tends to move counter cyclically to wind – or services, the outcome is the same.
