WEB DESK: The United States and Iran have reportedly agreed to prolong their 60-day ceasefire, potentially giving both sides additional time to negotiate a comprehensive agreement under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). According to Turkish media, Washington and Tehran have agreed to extend the ceasefire through the framework of the Islamabad MoU. The Islamabad MoU, signed in June 2026, established a framework for halting military operations and pursuing negotiations toward a permanent settlement. Pakistan’s Foreign Office has previously confirmed that technical-level discussions involving the United States, Iran, Pakistan and Qatar followed the memorandum. The reported framework also calls for US waivers covering Iranian oil exports and related banking, insurance and transportation services.
