Luyolo Community Hall set for revival after eight families relocated

City of Cape Town has successfully relocated the last remaining families from the Luyolo Community Hall in Gugulethu, heralding a new chapter for a facility that has long been a cornerstone of community life, Cape {town} Etc reports.
The families have been moved to safer accommodations, while the community regains a facility that belongs to everyone.’
The successful relocation paved the way for the Recreation and Parks Department to initiate restoration efforts for the Luyolo Hall, including both minor and major roof repairs.
Mayco for Community Services and Health, Councillor Francine Higham, articulated the importance of the Luyolo Hall as a hub for community engagement.
The Human Settlements Directorate is also working diligently to assess the needs of the relocated families through the City’s Housing Needs Register to identify permanent housing opportunities.
