More than 50 cattle were shot in the fields of a farm in Co TyroneA former Chief Veterinary Officer for Ireland will lead an external review into a Stormont department’s handling of a controversial cattle cull in Co Tyrone. Details of the review were announced by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs on Wednesday. A number of the healthy cattle were shot in public view. The department announced on Wednesday that Dr Martin Blake would lead a previously announced independent review into the incident, which is expected to conclude by “early Autumn”. Mr Muir revealed on Monday that he had received a death threat amongst the public backlash to the cattle cull.
