A longtime downtown Cedartown landmark is celebrating a major milestone this weekend as The West Cinema commemorates 85 years of entertaining the community. Over the years, The West Cinema has been more than a place to watch a movie. When Josh Kirby took ownership of The West Cinema five years ago, he took on more than a historic theater, he took on a piece of Cedartown’s community heritage. Kirby said he enjoys being part of the community and takes pride in keeping the traditional movie theater experience alive for families throughout Northwest Georgia. For Kirby, preserving The West Cinema is about more than showing films; it’s about creating an affordable place where families can make memories and ensuring a beloved local tradition continues for future generations.
