Trade union Unite, which represents employees at the plant, confirmed on Wednesday that industrial action will run from Monday, August 17 to Saturday, August 29. “Pilgrim’s can fully afford to pay workers in Enniskillen properly, and our members have Unite’s full support in their fight for pay justice,” she said. In addition to seeking a pay increase, workers are calling for an end to what Unite described as an inequality in paid breaks. At present, day-shift workers are paid for 15-minute breaks, while other workers receive payment for 30 minutes. The union has urged management to re-engage with workers and seek a settlement before the planned industrial action begins.
