Adult Swim’s “Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal” is already a two-time Emmy winner this year, while Peacock’s “The Traitors” and Fox’s “The Masked Singer” are also early honorees as the Television Academy announced this year’s winners in the juried categories of animation, costume and innovation in emerging media programming. Those juried awards for the 78th Emmys will be presented during the first two ceremonies on Saturday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 6. Instead, entrants are screened by a panel of professionals in the appropriate peer groups (animation, costume design, emerging media programming and motion and title design). There’s a possibility of one, more than one or no entry awarded an Emmy — and this year, for example, no Emmy was awarded in outstanding motion design. According to the org, “deliberations include open discussions of each entrant’s work with a thorough review of the merits of awarding the Emmy.”
