According to Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), temperatures in the country could rise to 40°C.
In response, the agency has raised the alert level across most of the country to yellow (risk) and orange (high risk).
Portugal’s Institute for Sea and Atmosphere has also issued heat warnings for four districts in the northeast of the country.
As previously reported, heatwave warnings were issued in 78 departments in France due to abnormally high temperatures.
