Daryl Jewell, 41, became a published author with his new novel In The Shadow of the System. The book is a dystopian science fiction thriller set in a near-future world which is built on compliance and control. It follows the story of Eli, a man who lives off-grid surviving by trading hacked technology and staying out of sight. "When I was younger, the sci-fi worldbuilding and stories fascinated me - I have always loved futuristic and dystopian media," he said. "I don't have millions of pounds to create a film so writing a book has been a budget-friendly way to express my ideas."
