Since our most recent roundup of local restaurant and bar closures almost two months ago, Pioneer Square — after hosting huge, happy crowds for the World Cup — has taken a few steps forward and a few steps back.
New hits in the neighborhood include sandwich-master Louie’s Deli and the tiny-but-already-mighty bar-and-eatery Doris, and the hotly anticipated Seattle branch of Death & Co. is (finally!)
Another decades-old favorite drinkery — records are sketchy as to exactly how many decades — the Pioneer Square Saloon also called its very last call.
But: “Although we’re saying goodbye to this location, we aren’t saying goodbye to West Seattle,” they noted.
Finally, the location of Purple Café and Wine Bar on Stone Way has closed, with parent company Heavy Restaurant Group planning a new concept for that space.
