Woman who made grisly discovery at pet crematorium calls for change
['Julia Baker']
Hereford Times | News
Jessica Cummings had her rescue dog, Teddy, put to sleep in May, and after her veterinary practice sent his body to be cremated at Animal Funeral Services at Litfield House Farm in Kington, she was left distraught after the ashes were not returned to her, and took matters into her own hands.
The allegations have prompted an investigation led by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), which saw a 'stop notice' issued on the site shortly after images began circulating on social media.
She also wishes to see staff training and "respectful" handling, and storage standards be more regulated.
"In Teddy’s honour, I’d like to try to get pets' remains treated with more respect to prevent heartache or loss of ashes!"
Members of the public can sign her petition via this link: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/776679An investigation remains ongoing into the allegations at Animal Funeral Services, but in a recent update, a spokesperson for Herefordshire Council said that pet owners who are identified as being directly affected will be contacted and offered information and support as further details become available.
