Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has opened up about the reason she became one of the industry’s most recognisable faces for villainous roles. Speaking during a livestreamed interview with content creator Carter Efe on Monday, Ozokwor said she believes her long association with characters such as witches, wicked mothers-in-law and scheming antagonists was part of a purpose given to her by God. Despite playing some of Nollywood’s most feared characters, the actress said she personally dislikes injustice, conflict and hatred. Instead, she viewed the characters as a way of showing audiences the consequences of their actions and encouraging them to choose a better path. Her portrayal of intimidating mothers-in-law, witches and other antagonists became a defining feature of her career, particularly after she rose to prominence in the 1990s.
