ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Aug, 2026) The Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has called upon the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to observe August 15, India’s Independence Day, as a Black Day in the territory. According to Kashmir Media Service, DFP spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal said India cannot subjugate the Kashmiri people through force, arrests, restrictions, and demolition of homes. He said the Kashmiri struggle for the right to self-determination cannot be suppressed through coercion. Arshad Iqbal said India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had made commitments to the people of Jammu Kashmir regarding their political future, and those commitments must be honored. The spokesman urged India to abandon its policy of force and provide Kashmiris political freedom to decide their future democratically.
