Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aati received a phone call from his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Wednesday to discuss bilateral relations and the latest regional developments. The two ministers praised the deep and strategic ties binding Egypt and Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation across various fields. They also exchanged views on rapidly developing regional tensions and efforts by regional partners, including Egypt and Saudi Arabia, to de-escalate tensions, contain the crisis and return to diplomacy within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran. The ministers stressed the need to address regional security concerns, respect state sovereignty, prevent attacks and avoid further escalation. They also discussed activating the efforts of the regional quartet comprising Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan to support de-escalation, regional security and stability.
