Dog owners warned of one unusual reaction to today’s solar eclipse

The sudden drop in daylight, expected to begin just after 6pm, may leave some dogs thinking it’s time for bed or their evening meal.
Darren Beale, CEO of dog food brand Years, said: "Dogs will not understand that an eclipse is taking place.
"Instead, they may interpret the sudden drop in light and temperature as an early sunset."
Pet owners are advised to keep routines as normal as possible and ensure dogs have a quiet place to relax.
There is no need for dogs to wear eclipse glasses, as they are unlikely to look directly at the sun.
