A routine football practice turned into an unforgettable and potentially dangerous experience after a venomous snake was discovered hiding inside a player's helmet.
Venomous Snake Found During High School Football PracticeAccording to a report from KATV, Maumelle Animal Services responded to Maumelle High School after coaches reported what they initially believed was a copperhead hiding inside a football helmet.
After a closer inspection, the snake was identified as a cottonmouth, also known as a water moccasin, one of Arkansas' venomous snake species.
Removing The Snake Wasn't EasyMaumelle Animal Services Director Chris Davis said the snake had worked itself so deeply into the helmet's padding that it refused to come out.
He described the cottonmouth as one of the most venomous snakes commonly found in Arkansas, second only to rattlesnakes in his opinion.
