The Eastern Cape Transport Department said three people were killed while three others sustained serious injuries in an accident on the N2 between Amalinda and Hemingway Mall in KuGompo City.
Department spokesperson, Makhaya Komisa, said on Wednesday that an Opel Corsa bakkie, and a Ford Ranger collided head-on.
Komisa said the MEC for Transport, Xolile Nqatha, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and wished the injured passengers a swift recovery.
“The MEC also urged motorists to obey traffic rules and reduce their speed,” he said.
