Six acres of land burns as fire spreads through gardens and field
['Andy Jones']
Dorset Echo | News
Lyme Regis Fire Station was initially mobilised, with Axminster later sent to the scene as the incident was escalated to two fire engines.
The service said crews initially used a nearby hydrant, before poor water pressure created difficulties in maintaining an adequate supply.
With several properties bordering the affected field, crews remained concerned that burning embers could spread into neighbouring gardens.
Firefighters from Axminster and Lyme remained at the scene to dampen down hotspots and make up equipment before first leaving at 7.20pm.
The service confirmed the fire was fully extinguished, with both crews leaving the scene at 10.15pm and returning to their home stations.
