A31 fire: Five-mile pipeline from lake supplying 1,300 litres of water per minute

Emergency service vehicles parked on the A31 near a blaze on heathland in the New Forest National Park near Ringwood in Hampshire.
The fire is affecting approximately one square kilometre of heathland - around 247 acres or 140 football pitches.
Cllr Adams-Kings said a five-mile water pipeline from Hightown Lake near Ringwood remains in operation which is supplying approximately 1,300 litres of water per minute.
“We are maintaining water supply to the site through combination of water carriers and the High Volume Pump (HVP) system.
She said: “Some rare heathland species may be lost or recover very slowly if local populations have been affected.”
