The discharge, believed to be untreated wastewater, has been flowing from a pipe below St Catherine’s Hill car park in Winchester and entering the River Itchen for at least two days. He said: "Before anyone jumps to conclusions, this is a private discharge and has nothing to do with Southern Water. Mr Roberts said, "This is one of the main places that people get in the river to paddle and swim, so there are big issues with that activity."
