Khammam: BRS Parliamentary Party Leader Vaddiraju Ravichandra on Wednesday sought details in the Rajya Sabha from the Centre on the steps being taken to develop the Bhadrachalam-Visakhapatnam road corridor. Gadkari said decisions on declaring roads as National Highways were taken based on broad principles, including connectivity requirements and other relevant factors. The Minister said several road projects worth Rs 2,170 crore had been sanctioned under the Road Connectivity Scheme for LWE-affected areas in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. From Chintur, the corridor connects through the state road via Seeleru, Chintapalli, Narsipatnam and Tallapalem to NH-16, the Minister said. The Minister’s response came in reply to questions raised by Ravichandra regarding the development and connectivity of the Bhadrachalam-Visakhapatnam road corridor and measures being taken by the Centre to improve road infrastructure in tribal and LWE-affected regions.
