Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) has teamed up with Colorado-based Quantinuum to bring the latter’s most advanced quantum computer, Helios, to its cloud infrastructure. Under this multi-year agreement, Oracle customers will have access to a hybrid compute infrastructure consisting of high-performance computing (HPC), graphics processing units (GPUs), and quantum computing. Regarded as the next frontier of computing, quantum computers are fundamentally different from the silicon-based computers used widely for daily and supercomputing applications. While research continues building commercial-scale quantum computers, OCI has teamed up with Quantinuum to offer quantum computing services via its cloud infrastructure. While quantum computers typically require ultracold temperatures to operate, Quantinuum’s Helios quantum computer has an energy consumption far lower than supercomputers in operation today.
